Global MBA Testimonials

The process of creating value through work-integrated learning is extraordinary. It shifts the primary learning experience from the confines of academic institutions to the actual workplaces of our students. This transformation leads to an unparalleled sense of purpose, as it transitions skills training from theoretical teaching to the invaluable experience gained on the job.

Additionally, work-integration redirects the traditional focus of study from analysis to practical implementation. It is the act of implementation that has the power to bring about real change in the world. This new approach enables students to realize their potential in effecting positive changes within their work environments.

We invite you to explore the remarkable feedback from some of our students who have been willing to openly share their experiences of creating genuine value in their workplaces.

While reading through Malik's prescribed text, it became clear that team management is not something only the few are called to. The guidance to 5 simple principles has changed my way of looking at how I get team members to perform at their peak by looking at what they find easy to do. I’ve always understood trust in a team and made it clear that I am responsible when the team, or a team member, makes a mistake. What I found compelling is to ensure recognition of a team member when they achieve and not to just say “it’s a team effort”.

Wow! I cannot believe that am now actually writing the conclusion of this assignment. It has been a journey that saw me change the organisation used for the assignment, from the mining  company to the new start-up school that belongs to the family.

The value that I believe I have created for myself is actually working on a project document that is very real and begin to be profitable, not only now but for posterity.

This assignment has brought so much insight on how a lot of things need to be done. It has enabled me to make fact based contributions on how to grow the school, because I have been analysing the data and numbers. Thus enabling the team to have a holistic view of what we have done, what we are doing and what still needs to be done.

Such a rewarding experience during this residential. It was a priviledge to spend time with the teams at Karl Küfner GmbH & Co. KG and Rohde & Schwarz . These family owned institutions have been in business for decades, yet continue to find ways to stay relevant with a continuous focus on excellence and innovation. Professor Adrienne Rubatos facilitation of the whole residential provided us with the most relevant tools for application. This is the IBR Institute of International Business Relations way!

The impact of attending the Strategy Residential with IBR Institute of International Business Relations and Dr. Andreas Kelling can be likened to the dropping of a bomb. Strategies, corporate or other business strategies, if not viewed through the lense of customer value is of less use than the paper it is prnter on. This revelation was one of many and had me questioning, actually doubting, everything I've been taught about future-based thinking and planning.

I throughly enjoyed the residential's face to face vibe, with workshops and knowledge sharing. I doubt the impact would have been as profound if attending a video conferrence or Teams meeting/call. Thank you to all new friends and contacts, for making this event an unforgettable experience and an appetiser for what is to come from IBR Institute of International Business Relations. I can't wait for the upcoming residentials and consultation/tutoring sessions!

As wholesome and pragmatic a learning adventure as one can get. This is how I can summarize my experience during the just concluded IBR Institute of International Business Relations Global MBA's Strategy Residential with Dr. Andreas Kelling. I have emerged on the other side with a clearer perspective on the ins and outs of how to craft effective corporate strategy in a dynamic environment.

The multiple learning points were well interconnected with practical examples and case studies that brought the concepts to life in a very insightful way. It was particularly enriching to work on a live case study and get invaluable input from the Professor and fellow colleagues in the MBA group. I am chomping at the bit now to get out there and not just talk strategy but formulate it, tell a compelling story, and implement it effectively in my own organisation and future endeavours. The value I have gained from this Strategy Residential cannot be understated, and I am more than glad to have been a part of it.

This assignment has really opened my eyes with how I deal with international business relationships. You need to know who your customer/supplier/partner is, understand how they do business, what are the cultural patterns and study them to create long lasting business relationships. I am now more excited than ever to deal with new cultures, so I can study them and teach myself to do business with them.

The study of the cross-cultural management has enhanced my appreciation of the influence of cultural issues on our firm’s approach to business dealings. I now have a better sense of how my awareness (or lack thereof ) of cultural nuances can have a material impact on how a business transaction with international partners or investors can progress. I have also come to appreciate the need to devote time and resources in order to better understand our international counterparties ahead of engaging in a transaction or going to the negotiating table. With many similar engagements on the horizon, I will adopt a different, more informed approach to the soft skills side of the overall engagement and our firm will certainly benefit from that going forward.

As a whole, the value provided for me as CEO and the workplace is a more efficient and effective appraisal system that links individual performance to strategic goals of the organisation. This alignment improves decision-making, helps with talent management, increases employee engagement, and develops an excellence culture, all of which contribute to the organization's overall performance and influence.

This assignment has taught me to always look at what the market is doing, never get comfortable and think you will always have work or income. The economy is too unstable to get complacent, analyse the threats and opportunities in a market, and adapt accordingly. Exploring new markets has let me create valuable other connections with people and has expanded on my professional network a lot.

While studying through this particular module of the course, it became clear that in-house servicing is not always the most efficient way of getting things done. There is a myriad of knowledge and experience a click away on the internet (and) The knowledge and understanding gained on competition in each space where business is done, be it on the corporate level or in your own neighbourhood, has changed my perspective on how to approach projects. Whether it be to improve current operations for a company running for years or to bring a start-up through planning to a fully realised business, there are checks and balances that require attention and action.

I am an engineer and not really comfortable in doing financial courses still all by myself. However, in this course unit, all I got was the reading material and I had to lay out everything on my own. It has not been easy at all but I have learnt quite a bit. This will ensure that am not blank in meetings or where I have to evaluate or appraise a project because that is what I do. I now know where to start!
